This 84-year-old woman, mother to prominent figures Savannah Guthrie and Annie Guthrie, vanished from her Catalina Foothills residence in Pima County, AZ, on the evening of January 31, 2026. This incident coincided with the commencement of the 2026 Tucson Gem, Mineral & Fossil Showcase, an event that draws over 100,000 professionals to the city.
The JSA's decision to offer a reward stems from the Guthrie family's established connections within the jewelry sector. Annie Guthrie, Nancy's eldest daughter and Savannah's sister, is a jewelry designer and writer based in Tucson. She is recognized for her work, including the book “Instant Gratification Jewelry,” and her role as marketing and publicity director for Kore Press, alongside managing a commission-based jewelry enterprise. Her academic background includes a B.A. in poetry from the University of Arizona and an M.F.A. from Warren Wilson College, with a career bridging literature and the jewelry trade.
Authorities have released a description of the suspect, captured by Nancy Guthrie’s Nest doorbell camera. The individual is described as a masked male, approximately 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, with an average build, observed carrying a black 25-liter Ozark Trail Hiker backpack. Nancy Guthrie herself is described as 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighing approximately 150 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.
In addition to the JSA's reward, the FBI has also announced a separate reward of $100,000 for information that helps resolve the case.
